The Adventure Continues

NO ALBUM TODAY

Really hated to leave this place it was getting very comfortable.  Nevertheless, the alarm went off at 5:45 and we slowly started to move.  The rain was coming down and it was quite a dreary day. Got our stuff together and said farewell to our lovely suite.  It was very quiet at reception. The DC boys and co. had already left for the airport and our Gurnsey friends with the Kentucky ladies were out on their morning ride -- it was going to be a full poncho day for them.  Nina brought our car around, all nicely washed, and handed us our breakfast boxes and big hugs goodbye.

The drive to Port Elizabeth wasn't too bad.  It rained on and off with some periods of very dense fog.  Not too much traffic until we hit the city and even then, we managed to get to the car rental by around 8.  Easy peasy there - the guy expressed how nice the car looked and never even looked at the gas gauge - which was good because we never did see a gas station to fill it up.  It was still reading full even some of the driving we did.

We are now sitting in the airport lounge (we now have total access to lounges thanks to British Airways) and we are very grateful for the peace and quiet -- not to mention the coffee.  Should get to Jo'berg around noon, grab another rental car, and hopefully be at our new hosts house around 2ish. They live in between Jo'berg and Pretoria.  We are only there for one night and then we are back on the road headed to the Panorama Drive.  That will be another long drive around some very scenic views.  Let's hope this rain doesn't follow us.

Uneventful flight to Jo'berg.  Getting the car and getting out of the airport is always an adventure. Arrived at Louise and Willie's house about an hour or so ago.  Resting out by the pool but the thunder has driven us inside. Geoff just got off the phone with Pete, his brother - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Left our lovely room to go chat with our hosts.  They are both very nice and have also done some travel.  Gert and Sonja if you are reading this, you will be interested to know that one of their daughters immigrated to NZ with her family a few months back.  They helped us set a course for tomorrow's route and we politely retired to our suite.

For dinner this evening, we are eating the food we have collected along the way.  Way too exhausted to go find a restaurant and sit down and order.  There is still lots of thunder out there but no rain yet.  No telling what we can expect for the next couple of days.

Glad we are able to get some rest without having to do anything this evening.  In a few more days, we will be back to wild safari again.  Not much action today for photos.  Album should be back tomorrow.

Next time.... The Panorama Drive
